Looks like, the film is all set to make a record of sorts. The Shaukeens, apart from having an ensemble star cast, has a number of B-Town biggies in cameo appearances. Suniel Shetty is the latest addition.
Shetty does a comedy and quirky cameo in the film. Talking about his role, the actor has reportedly said, “I like the way comedy is evolving and how new directors are coming up with innovative ideas. This (his role in The Shaukeens) was really interesting.”
Akshay and Suniel were last seen together in the 2011 flick, Thank You. The duo have done a number of films together.
Apart from Suniel, other B-Town celebs who will be seen in special roles in The Shaukeens are Dimple Kapadia, Abhishek Bachchan and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
Filmmaker Abhishek Sharma’s The Shaukeens is the remake of Basu Chatterjee’s 1982 hit of the same name. The original film had three old men in their 50s – Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and AK Hangal – as the centre of the plot. The trio tried to woo a young girl, played by lovely actress, Rati Agnihotri. The remake will have Piyush Mishra, Annu Kapoor and Anupam Kher reprise the parts played by the old men. Akshay Kumar, in an extended special appearance, will be essaying the role of Mithun Chakraborty from the original flick.
The Shaukeens went on floors in April this year, and is slated to release on 7th November 2014.
