Ever since the box office collection of Baahubali: The Conclusion has gone viral the Gang threatening Baahubali producers for money have also jolted Netizens by storm. Six people have been arrested by the Hyderabad police for allegedly trying to extort money from Filmmaker Karan Johar as he is the producer of Hindi version of Baahubali2.


The gang who have arrested were threatening to circulate a pirated copy if the demand of Rs 15 lakh was not fulfilled. The gang demanded Rs 15 lakh from the producers for not uploading a copy on the internet, deputy commissioner of police Avinash Mohanty said in Hyderabad.

The complaint lodged on April 29 states that Rahul Mehta, who said he represented an `anti-piracy agency,’ approached the producers and told them that a pirated high definition print of the film was available. “Mehta showed them a sample video and informed that the release of a pirated copy would be withheld for a few days and demanded money,” Mr Mohanty said.

Mr Mehta was arrested on May 11 from Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. He named Jitender Mehta, Taufiq and Mohammad Ali as accomplices. The three were arrested in Delhi the next day. Jitender and Taufiq have a past criminal record and were arrested by the Jabalpur police in Madhya Pradesh for the piracy of Baahubali-The Beginning in 2015. Divakar Kumar, owner of a theatre in Bihar’s Begusarai district was arrested from Patna. Monu, who is absconding, and Divakar made a digital copy of the film, the DCP said.
