An alleged web ponzi scam worth 500 crores has been caught by the CBI. Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin’s names have surfaced in the case against the shadow company named Trade Link’s Addsbook Marketing Pvt Ltd. Here’s why they have landed in this soup.
As per a leading portal, two promoters of Webwork Trade Links — namely Anurag Jain and Sandesh Verma — allegedly duped many investors. Here’s what they did — They made a shadow firm named addsbook.com, roped in Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin Siddiqui as its brand ambassadors, and then began to dupe investors who trusted the firm to be genuine since it had these big names on their poster.
According to the FIR that has been filed, many businessmen invested heavily in the company as they were influenced by both these celebrities. The two owners, allegedly collected over Rs 500 crores from around two lakh people. CBI is probing into this case against Jain and Verma for alleged cheating and violation of the Information Technology Act.
The good news — and a sigh of relief — is that both Shah Rukh Khan and Nawazuddin are nowhere mentioned as accused or even as suspects in the FIR by the Uttar Pradesh Police, which is currently looking into this matter. Phew! What a close escape, we think.
Nawazuddin and Shah Rukh Khan worked together in the film ‘Raees’. Currently, SRK is busy with the shooting of ‘Jab Harry Met Sejal’, and Nawazuddin is gearing up for the release of his upcoming film ‘Babumoshai Bandookbaaz’.
