Recently, Akshay Kumar was seen sharing a video made by Aranya Johar. This girl shot to overnight fame with her unbelievable poetry on how Indian girls are seen by their gender image. The words she chose for her poetry took everyone by surprise. And now, Aranya has shot another video – this time on menstruation and why women should not hide in their periods. Akshay Kimar was amongst the first ones to share her video on his Twitter page. Here’s why….
After aiming to spread awareness of cleanliness and PM Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan’, via his film ‘Toilet: Ek Prem Katha’, Akshay Kumar’s next film titled ‘Padman’ is based on the life of Arunachalam Muruganantham, the man known to create affordable sanitary pads for the women in his village. And Aranya’s video gels well with the message the Khiladi Kumar wants to spread via his film. Hence the actor shared her video and even wrote, “Break the silence on menstruation. Periods are nothing to hide.
Recently, Twinkle Khanna was also seen spreading the message on menstruation, on Menstrual Hygiene Day. Aranya Johar’s poetry had a very powerful message regarding not just periods, but also the society’s backward norms regarding this monthly biological system of women and how they think it is a taboo to talk about it. Watch this video and we’re sure it will change your perception of menstruation too.
We’re proud of Akshay to have chosen films that help open up the society’s narrow perceptions, as compared to acting in movies that do nothing beyond hollow entertainment.
Here’s the Women’s Day Special video that made Aranya Johar a known face on the internet. Listen to her ‘Brown girl’s guide to Gender’ and you will never forget her face again.
