It seems to be a box-office battle heavily loaded in favour of the Shahid Kapoor – Sonakshi Sinha starrer ‘R…Rajkumar’ which is pitted against the emotional saga ‘Club 60’ this week. Masses and youngsters are the ones who decide a particular film’s fate at the box-office and it seems highly likely that due to the presence of mass-appealing ingredients in ‘R…Rajkumar’, the box-office collection of ‘Club 60’, directed by Sanjay Tripathy, would definitely be affected. Inspired by the phrase ‘life begins at sixty’, ‘Club 60’ has a very engaging catchline ‘life is a member here!’ but there is a major difference between being a good film and a saleable film. While ‘Club 60’ starring Farooq Shaikh, Sarika, Satish Shah, Tinnu Anand, Sharat Saxena and last but not the least, Raghuvir Yadav seems to be that ‘good’ film with an emotional storyline, ‘R…Rajkumar’ is that more commercially viable ‘paisa vasool’ masala potboiler full of action, comedy, romance and songs, director Prabhu Dheva ‘ishtyle’! It’s a genre in which Prabhu Dheva has proved his mettle in the past with films like ‘Wanted’ and ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and that provides the film an extra edge at the box-office.
Thus, it’s ‘masala’ versus ‘sentimentality’ this week and it’s a battle worth watching!
