Exclusive Interview: Shiv Pandit

Upcoming movie BOSS is releasing this Eid, 16th October 2013. Shiv Pandit (Shaitan fame) is playing Boss’s (Akshay Kumar) younger brother in the movie with Aditi Rao Hydari as his ladylove. Along with some romance, he has also done some amazing fighting scenes in the movie.

After F.I.R. (Comedy serial) and Shaitan (Movie), it’s the first time Shiv is signed to be a part of a big budgeted multi-starrer masala Bollywood film.

Recently, We got to know him better in an exclusive interview.

Sonal: Tell us about your journey so far !

Shiv : My journey has never been about the ‘chase’. My friend asked me to appear for an audition and luckily, I was selected. I have worked for Commercial Advertisements like Airtel, Tide, Colgate, LG etc. Later, I got auditioned for F.I.R. (SAB TV serial) and was selected for a (lead) comic role. I also anchored IPL, worked as a radio jockey and have done theater.

To change the image I had on television and to re-invent myself, I waited for the right opportunity to come and finally got a role in movie ‘Shaitan’ (2011) which did wonders to me and here I am. My upcoming movie is Boss with Akshay Kumar, Mithun Chakraborthy and Aditi Rao Hydari as co-stars.

Sonal : Let’s talk about the much appreciated fighting sequences by Akshay, you and Ronit !

Shiv: All the fighting scenes were real. No cables used. The fighting scenes were executed hand to hand.. We practiced and performed. For climbing and jumping, a method known as ‘parkour’ (form of gymnastics with freedom of moves) was practiced.

Sonal : Any special moment during the shoot which you would always remember ?

Shiv: I always dreamt of doing a big budgeted commercial film. My special moment was when for the first time I shared the camera with Akshay Kumar in ‘Hum Na Todey’ track. It was surreal. It was special.

Sonal: What has been your toughest challenge till date ?

Shiv : My toughest challenge was to reinvent my image after working in FIR in a comic role. To confidently believe and wait for the right script to arrive was very hard.

Sonal : How are Akshay Kumar and Aditi Rao Hydari off screen ?

Shiv : Akshay is very relaxed and punctual off screen. He is very down to earth and a friend to me. He is not my Godfather but has been very supportive.

Aditi is a very easy going person. There’s never a dull moment with her. She’s always happy.

Sonal : Who is your favorite character in the movie Boss ?

Shiv : “Boss ka charachter is my favourite.” I love doing comedy and the way boss has been portrayed in the movie jogging on trucks etc. amuses me.

Sonal : How was your experience working with the senior actors like Mithun Da ?

Shiv : Well, he is very talented. With his experience comes wisdom and he knows everything on the sets from lights to camera angles. Apart from that, he is really funny.

Sonal : What pranks has Akshay been playing on the sets with you and the other crew members ?

Shiv : (laughs) There are many. Actually, Akshay has this philosophy of having entertainment on sets, in order to never get bored with the monotonous routine. He believes in making work an enjoyable task and not a dull moment. We even used to play games or crack jokes while traveling.

Sonal : What are your upcoming projects ?

Shiv : Akshay has praised my work and got me to sign two more films with him. The name of the movies will be declared post the release of Boss.
