Top 10 Remakes and Sequels in 2013

Let’s face it remakes and sequels have always teetered on thin ice when it comes to bringing out the best of tinsel town. There are a few we would prefer to forget (Speed 2!) and some that we love to remember, no one can sniff at the everlasting joy of Toy Story!

Yet perhaps 2013 is the year for some top remakes and sequels to blow us out of the water. Check out our top ten list of remakes and sequels to watch out for.

A Good Day to Die Hard

The original is a Christmas classic and even though the beloved action film may have lost the edge for some by time it got to the sequel, Bruce Willis has confirmed he won’t die hard as he goes on to make the fourth in the series.

    Monsters University

We all carry a soft spot for Pixar and especially for those loveable stars of Monsters Inc. This year we get a second chance to catch the action and find out how Sulley and Mike met a decade before the events of Monsters Inc.

    Carrie

The cult horror classic that made teenagers fear prom night is back for a facelift. The original movie was hailed with Sissy Spacek playing the troubled teen with supernatural powers. The film has received an update and audiences are eagerly awaiting the release to see if they get it right the second time round.

    Evil Dead

Another horror classic that some say need not be touched! If it ain’t broken don’t fix it! Yet director Fede Alvarez disagrees and thinks he can add some real terror to the comedic ham acting and tongue in cheek props of the original film.

    The Hunger Games; Catching Fire

Jennifer Lawrence is back for some kick ass action in the highly anticipated sequel to The Hunger Games. Expect plenty of cinema hype as we move forward with the highly popular young adult series from Suzanne Collins.

The Hobbit; The Desolation of Smaug

The highest grossing film of 2012 had us all on the edge of our seats with an unexpected journey into middle earth. Tolkien lovers twitched with excitement at the sight of goblins, dwarves, elves and giants! Yet sadly we will all have to wait until next Christmas to get our second installment of The Hobbit.

    Iron Man 3

Superheros truly have the power to make Hollywood history and we just can’t get enough of our caped crusaders. After mega success with Iron Man 1 and 2 it looks like we get another slice of the action this year with Iron Man 3. D.C comics we love you!

    Anchorman; The Legend Continues

The cringe worthy news anchor is back! Yes Ron Burgundy is here to prove that the legend continues. Perhaps one of the funniest films to hit the silver screen in the last decade, we can’t wait to get a second glimpse at the ridiculous antics of Will Ferrell.

    Oz the Great and Powerful

Neither a remake nor a sequel OZ the Great and the Powerful falls into the prequel category. Yet viewers are intrigued to visit the Land of Oz again and see the emerald city before that pesky wicked witch got her hands on it. Don’t expect a glimpse of Dorothy or any ruby slippers but enjoy the magic realism.

Sin City a Dame to Kill For

Neo Noir and dark city nights are back in fashion as the cult graphic novel comes back for a second appearance. Expect a slick story, grimy appearance and top rate cast of actors in the next installment.
