A wild fire unexpectedly broke out in Surat last night that took away lives of 20 teenagers. Several Bollywood celebrities have taken to their social media handles to extend condolences and prayers for the young souls who lost their lives. The latest reports states that the death toll has risen to 20. Several others have been injured due to the fire break out at a Coaching Centre in the Sarthana area of Surat where the centre was located on the third and fourth floor of the Takshashila Complex. The internet was flooded by the horrific videos of the tragedy where several students were spotted to jump off the building to escape the fire.
The Deputy Chief Minister informed in an interview to a leading news outlet, “As per the information received, 20 students have died in the fire. Many others were injured and shifted to a hospital”. He further added, “Students, mostly teenagers, died “either due to suffocation or jumping off from the complex. We have ordered a detailed inquiry into the incident. We will not spare those found guilty.”
Several Bollywood celebrities took to post on their social media handles from Big B Amitabh Bachchan to Urmila Matondkar, Bhumi Pednekar and more. Amitabh Bachchan wrote on his twitter handle, “T 3174 – Terrible tragedy in Surat .. a devastating fire and 14-17 year old children caught in it jump off the building and perish .. Grief beyond expression .. prayers”.
Urmila Matondkar expressed her heartfelt condolences writing, “Deeply saddened to hear about the Fire Tragedy in #Surat today. My condolences go out to the grieving families and pray for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
Bhumi Pednekar’s Twitter handle stated, “My condolences to the families of the victims..may their souls rest in peace.This is so heartbreaking ?? We really need to be more diligent about our security and safety rules and conditions.Stricter laws and better implementation #SuratfireTragedy”.
