Karan Johar’s Takht

Karan Johar under his production house Dharma Productions is all set to shoot his well mounted period drama ‘Takht’ for which he has brought together a group of really hard working casts. Of the many casts working together to display their talents, Vicky Kaushal is one of them. If the latest whir is something to consider, then, it is revealed that Karan Johar has rewritten the role of the eminent URI actor, Vicky Kaushal in the Mughal era film. In the film, Vicky will be playing the role of Aurangzeb, while the role of Shah Jahan will be played by Anil Kapoor and Ranveer Singh will be seen portraying his son Dara Shikoh.

Previously, in an interview with a news outlet, Vicky Kaushal has stated, “I’m really really excited for the process of Takht to start. It’s going to be a character that’s really going to demand a lot from me and that’s what you live for as an actor to see life from a different perspective.” Furthermore he added, “It becomes very difficult to not judge that character, that’s the hardest part to crack, changing your physicality, your language, this, that – you work towards it but mentally to just not judge the character and his actions and intentions and take him as he is and totally believe in it and to say that to yourself that “No, this is right”. That’s the trick and that’s where you want to reach.”

The star cast was also asked of what he feels about Ranveer who has set a benchmark in his role in Padmaavat as Khilji and that if he sees it as a challenge to go beyond the benchmark. He replied, “No, not at all. I know what the film is and I know how Aurangzeb is in the film. It’s a completely different colour palette. If I take that approach, I’ll only be kinda. It’s like don’t think of an elephant, you’ll only end up thinking about an elephant, I’m a huge fan of this performance as Khilji, the way he played it unabashedly was absolutely mindblowing. That’s the trait I want to use for Aurangzeb but on a very different character.” Besides Vicky Kaushal, Ranveer Singh and Anil Kapoor, Takht will also feature kareena Kapoor Khan, Alia Bhatt, Bhumi Pednekar and Janhvi Kapoor. It is also rumoured that Aryan Khan will make his debut with Takht. The shooting of Takht will commence this August or September while the film is slated to release the next year.
