Sonakshi Sinha last appeared in Kalank which did not do well at all in the box office. Sonakshi Sinha at present is looking forward to Fukrey director Mrighdeep Singh Lamba’s comedy-drama, Khandaani Shafakhana. Though the film had gone through some controversial trial, actress Sonakshi Sinha seems excited about the role. She is determined to make the role outspoken so that men and women both no more shy away from the topic of sex.

The movie Khandani Shafakhana is determined to have an impact on people and let them think about why exactly the sex topic still remains under such a hush tone, why it is still a taboo in the society.

The movie helmed by Shilpi Dasgupta narrates the journey of a girl who happens to inherit her dead uncle’s sex clinic in Punjab and the story continues from there. Sonakshi Sinha even shares her initial thought about the film, “On hearing the film’s one-line pitch — ‘story of a girl who inherits a sex clinic’ — I was like why would they even approach me for such a film.” And later added, “But when I heard the full story, I said I must do this film because it’s a very relevant and important subject that should be discussed.”

Shilpi Dasgupta who is the director of the film shares that most of the sex-related issues can be resolve if people simply just talk about them. Shilpi Dasgupta talking about it said, “Did you know that till very recently, sex education was banned in quite a few states of India? This is an issue we must all rally around. Sonakshi really took on this challenge, something most people would be hesitant to even discuss, let alone play the role. We hope that we will be able to help people to no longer look at sex as a dirty word.” Sonakshi Sinha also seems to be on the same page with her director as she mentioned in her statement, “I decided to do this film because it’s a very relevant and important subject that should be discussed. I don’t want anyone, woman or man, to shy away from talking about this topic. I hope my doing this film, will give them the courage to talk about sexual issues openly. I am sure this movie will get people thinking… and talking. ‘Baat toh karo’”.

The film is slated to release on August 2 which also features rapper Badshah and Varun Sharma in key roles.
