The New Year release, Tevar, featuring Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha, failed to woo the audience much! However, the film managed to collect approximately Rs 3.20 crores on its fifth day at the ticket windows. With this, the film now stands with a total collection of Rs 29.25 crores at the domestic box office.
Tevar witnessed an average 60% drop in its collections on its first Monday as compared to the weekend collections, and it further continued to slightly drop on its first Tuesday. The film could perform well only in urban cities, and specifically only in single screens.
Tevar’s first week collections would be approximately Rs 35 – 37 crores. The film, a commercial romantic drama, seems to have failed to impress the viewers. Contrary to expectations, it did not perform at its best. However, the producers are having a ball of a time, as it is a low-budget film.
Amit Sharma’s Tevar has been co-produced by Kapoor brothers – Boney and Sanjay. Tevar is a remake of Gunasekhar’s 2003 Telugu flick, Okkadu, which starred Mahesh Babu and Bhoomika Chawla in lead roles. Tevar also features Manoj Bajpai in a pivotal role.
