Pre-booking sales of Endgame
Asish Sakshena who is the COO of the online ticketing platform’s cinema division told Quartz that they had to add new shows every day for meeting the rising demands of the audience. The advance booking that opened on BookMyShow had received a sky-high demand for the tickets of the show. BookMyShow reported that about 8 million tickets and still counting had been sold by them. So Far, Avengers: Endgame has turned out to be the highest in-demand Hollywood film in India. The amount of ticket sell reflects just about 48% of the net box office collection.
According to the marketing expenditure of Disney, Endgame is considered to be the highest across the industry. The film receives a great boost for providing multiple languages. Disney seems to have given a lot of effort in dubbing as they didn’t translate but rewrites the dialogues. Endgame is as hilarious in Hindi as it is in English. But it turns out people did not liked the Hindi and Tamil versions as they were not up to the mark. They had only watched them out of desperation when IMAX tickets were all sold out. There were some ardent fans also who watched it for multiple times.
Myths of Bollywood Blockbusters
Meanwhile, according to a tweet made by trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the Avenger’s last franchise has broken the age-old myths that still circulate around Indian cinema. Bollywood stars like Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan always tend to release their films in some sort of festivals, be it Diwali or Eid-ul-Fitr. It was their secret mantra to get most tickets sold and be the box office hit. But it seems the breakout success of the Avengers: Endgame has smashed that belief. The movie had hit the screen on a non festive day and yet bagged as the top grossing film in India. But that’s not all. It seems like the Avengers: Endgame has smashed another Bollywood belief. We all aware of the fact that Bollywood tends to go right to the interiors of the country with playing on upwards 4,000 or 4,500 screens at times but Avengers had just 2,845 screens and look at the buzz it created. Thankfully, there were no big Bollywood flicks that came clashing with Endgame in its first week. But the question though remains that if the superhero franchise will continue its astronomical run after the release of Karan Johar’s Student of The Year 2?
