This week, cinema halls will witness two new releases – Baby and Dolly Ki Doli. Baby is an action thriller, featuring Akshay Kumar in the lead role. It is expected to be the first big, successful release of the year. There are a lot of expectations from Baby, as it has been directed by Neeraj Pandey, who has made brilliant films like A Wednesday and Special 26 previously.
Baby is expected to have a good opening with its first day collections of approximately Rs 10 crore plus. The film will have nearly 50% occupancy at the silver screen. Baby is expected to do wonders at the ticket windows over the weekends. This Akshay Kumar film is expected to make 100 crores in the initial days of its release.
Baby is jointly produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar and Cape of Good Films & Crouching Tiger. TV actress Madhurima Tuli will be seen playing Akshay’s wife in the film, which also stars Taapsee Pannu in a principal role.
On the other hand, Dolly Ki Doli, starring Sonam Kapoor, in the title role, is expected to have a decent opening at the ticket windows. This quirky comedy is expected to rake in around Rs 6-7crores at the domestic box office on its opening day. The film will have a tough competition with Baby, as Akshay’s film has stronger content than Sonam’s flick.
Dolly Ki Doli is co-produced by Arbaaz Khan and Malaika Arora Khan, and it has been directed by Abhishek Dogra. Sonam is seen playing a con-woman in the film. She finds guys, woos them, marries them and flees away with all their money, jewelleries et al the very next morning. She is the Looteri Dulhan.
The film also stars Pulkit Samrat, Rajkummar Rao, Varun Sharma and Rajpal Yadav in principal roles. Saif Ali Khan has a special appearance in the film.
