Chennai Express Special: Titli Song Review

Chennai Express Special: Titli Song Review

The King of Romance, Shah Rukh Khan is back in the meadows to romance his leading lady on a melody. But this time it’s no sarson ka khet from Punjab, but the lush green fields of a tiny village in South India.

Titli’ is a melody that will transport you to a green haven with SRK and Deepika. Deepika looks divine and fresh in her quintessential South Indian look, wearing Kanjivaram and chiffon Saris and pavadais and ghagras. Staring into each other’s eyes, Dips and SRK emit crackling chemistry in the song which raises the mercury level. SRK is scintillating in the song evoking involuntary sighs (from women of all age!). Clad in white lungi and shirt, SRK reminds you a little of Mohan Bharghav from Swades, but you soon you will get lost in the beauty of the song. Filled with colorful flowers and pretty Dips dancing to the tunes of traditional music (she even does Bharatnattyam in between while romancing SRK), the cinematographer has captured the beauty of rural India matching perfectly with the song.

Music director duo Vishal-Shekhar, have used traditional Carnatic music and traditional instruments in ‘Titli’. Sung by newcomers Chinmayi Sripada and Gopi Sunder, the song is literally ‘music to the ears’ and will make your heart beat slow and fast at the same time. Chinmayi and Gopi are a refreshing change from the usual singer of our Bollywood. Vishal-Shekhar has ventured into a genre of Carnatic music which has always been a trademark of A.R. Rehmam. But the duo has measured up perfectly to the high standards set by the master.
