As its first week comes to an end, Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam has had a good performance at the ticket counters. After a wonderful opening weekend (Rs. 30.03 crore), the film earned Rs. 4.05 crore, Rs. 4.50 crore, approx. Rs. 4 crore and approx. Rs. 5 crore on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday respectively. The film’s one week total business comes out to be around Rs. 47 crore at the domestic box office. Clearly, the film is sure to cross 50 crores today.
Since Akshay Kumar’s Brothers is set to release on 14th August, it will become a little difficult for Nishikant Kamat’s Drishyam to make huge moolah post that. So the film must garner as much business as possible during the coming weekend and over the next week. So far as the film’s reviews are concerned, it has been praised by the film fans and critics alike, and enjoys positive word of mouth publicity.
Drishyam is a remake of the Malayalam film of the same name, which was written and directed by Jeethu Joseph. The 2013 thriller, starring Mohanlal and Meena in key roles, went on to become an all-time blockbuster.
