No, the latest numbers are no relief! The makers of Shaandaar have further bad news, as their flick continues to go downwards on its first Monday. The romantic comedy earned Rs. 2.50 crores yesterday, thus bringing its five-day total business to Rs. 36.01 crores at the domestic box office.
After opening well on Dussehra, Vikas Bahl’s Shaandaar kept falling in figures. It earned Rs. 13.10 crores on Thursday, Rs. 7.55 crores on Friday, Rs. 6.75 crores on Saturday and Rs. 6.11 crores on Sunday. Though the Shahid Kapoor and Alia Bhatt starrer was promoted on a grand scale and attracted eyeballs through its promos and trailers, the film seems to be losing its charm on viewers after its theatrical premiere. It won’t be wrong to conclude that the film did decent business on its first day solely because audiences were intrigued by the trailers and had high expectations from the director of Queen. But soon after the release, movie-buffs realized the film isn’t as Shaandaar as it was promised to be. The reviews range between below average and negative, which sure is not great news for the makers.
Meanwhile, Luv Ranjan’s Pyaar Ka Punchnama 2 has been benefitting out of Shaandaar’s poor fate at the ticket counters. The rom-com is all set to rake in Rs. 50 crores soon.
