Southern megastar Rajinikanth’s ‘Kabali’ not only managed an “earth shattering-start” at the box office but also received a humongous reception over the first weekend. Fans entered theatres in T-shirts and masks featuring their beloved ‘Thalaiva’ and cinema owners seemed to be laughing their way to the banks. ‘Kabali’ already created history by becoming the biggest Indian opener of all times with a total weekend collection grossing to above Rs. 200 Crore net approx worldwide.
Directed by Nishikant Kamat, ‘Madaari’, with Irrfan Khan and Jimmy Shergill in the lead roles, is being applauded for its meaningful concept and performance. But, in spite of good performances ‘Madaari’ failed to create any buzz in the presence of Rajinikanth’s magic that is drawing audiences like a magnet. The intial screen count is drastically low with an occupancy of 30% on Friday. The total weekend collection of ‘Madaari’ looks like less than 10 Crore net approx countrywide.
The occupancy of the coming week will decide ‘Madaari’s’ lifetime at the BO. On the whole, ‘Madaari’ With a tough competition between, ‘Kabali’ and ‘Sultan’, ‘Madaari’ which was also released on July 22, doesn’t stand much chance.
