Review: Mere Dad Ki Maruti

Review: Mere Dad Ki Maruti

Mere Mere Dad Ki Maruti is an absolute comedy with small screen actors. Movie is about a father-son relation, pretty girls and friends. It entirely revolves around a wedding to take place and the car being gifted as a wedding gift to the groom. Director Ashima Chibber has used Indian marriage as backdrop of the movie. Movie has everything from a family to college romance from bhai(don) to a musical flavor. Ashima Chibber has chosen her actors exactly as per the roles. But maruti as brand gets the biggest share not only in title but in the movie as well. It tells the story of father son relationship and the confusion of generation gap. But it’s the story of every Indian family, isn’t it ?

Movie starts with a girl coming out of a parlour after waiting few hours for her brother Sameer (Saqib Saleem). Her brother Sameer who is busy playing macho with his college friends in Chandigarh. When he reach home, a brand new maruti car is delivered, which is a gift for her sister’s marriage. A bit disappointed Sameer argued with his dad Tej Khullar (Ram Kapoor). Abc warned him not to touch the car at all. Sameer gets an invite to date his dream girl Jazzelin(Rhea Chakraborty) and takes the car to impress her. Sameer and his buddy Gattu ( Prabal Panjabi) gets drunk and losses his car in a confusion. Well now starts a confused drama of mishaps, confusions, jugads, dons and what not. Well all this takes the movie forward towards a very interesting climax.

It’s director Ashima Chibber’s third movie. Movie’s script is good and one liners and dialogues are nasty and interesting. Saqib Saleem played his role as college boy from Chandigarh pretty well. Ram Kapoor as intense dad is a bit over the edge but as a versatile actor he played it as per the role requirement. Rhea seems promising but with a very small role it was really hard to judge her. Ravi Kishan  as don was the best choice. Benazir Shaikh’s role as  Sister was the funniest and could not have been any better by this tv child actress, Not to miss, her item song was the best 5 funny minutes of the movie. One would actually roll on the floor laughing. The lyrics are cleverly written and dance performance was properly executed. Director planned a Chandigarh’s punjabi family with marriage in the background and a series of mishaps, well I will say she did it brilliantly and gave us a entertainment treat. All in all mere dad ki maruti is 100% entertainer and paisa wasool.
