An another box office smash hit of 2013 is the sexy and stylish thriller Race 2 , directed by the famous duo ‘Abbas-Mustan‘. The movie released on 25th January and succeeded to enthrall me as was expected out of it. Starring Anil Kapoor, Saif Ali Khan, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone and Jacqueline Fernandez, Race 2 could be touted as one of the best action thrillers of 2013.
What I liked about the movie was its stylish treatment meted out to almost everything imaginable. From good looking guys and gals, to hot wheels and foreign locales, everything about this movie is flamboyant. And yeah…I love to watch such flicks that simply take you on a whirlwind tour of such places that are, otherwise beyond my reach. But, one word of advice to all those intellectual beings that are expecting more out of Race 2– go to the theater with a closed mind since there isn’t anything intriguing that would tap your nuts and make you analyze things. Race 2 simply is to be seen for its fashion quotient….that’s about it!
As far as I am concerned, I knew exactly what to expect out of Race2 the moment it hit the small screen. It is a flick that has been made for those that want to have a nice time and don’t want to be bothered with real and boring topics or plots. Come on…who wants to see rustic India all the time? Race 2 offers a great ensemble of actors and a burning chemistry between the lead pairs. The songs rendered by Pritam have left me speechless and I cannot, but shower accolades to this fantastically talented music director who has given some cool peppy numbers to dance on.
But, this flick too has certain flaws that may not be liked by most viewers. It fails in comparison to its predecessor –Race that was a box office hit and was loved by almost all. Watching Race 2 gave me a sense of déjà vu since the story, the plot and the theme were all familiar to me. I have seen such plots of betrayal, revenge and lust in many similar kinds of movies. For many of us movie buffs, watching Race 2 may seem like a bit phony since there isn’t much offered for viewers. Except for fast cars and hot babes flaunting their bikini ripped bodies, the movie has nothing new.
With an average performance by all the actors, Race 2 is merely a flick meant only for spending your dull evenings when there is nothing better to do. When I talk about flaws, it is a must that a special mention be made of an actress (or an extra? Hard to guess! ) by the name of Amisha Patel, who began her career with a bang opposite the heartthrob of millions –Hrithik Roshan in Kaho Na Pyar Hai. Here, Miss Patel is shown just playing a side kick to the other hotties- Deepika and Jacqueline. What a demotion, I must say. I used to love this actress for her innocent looks and acting. But, in Race 2, she has simply done nothing but flaunt her recently acquired hot body. As for Anil Kapoor, I loved him better in E.R. and Slum Dog Millionaire.
Watch this movie only if you are a flamboyant personality. It is not a bad flick. I enjoyed it. Check it out once.
