Music Review: Bang Bang

The upcoming action thriller ‘Bang Bang’ starring Hrithik Roshan and Katrina Kaif and co-starring Danny Denzongpa and Jaaved Jaffery is soon to hit the theatres. Helmed by the very talented Siddharth Anand under the production house Fox Stars Studios, the music of the film has been given by Vishal and Shekhar in association with Zee Music Company.

The album of the movie comprises of five songs in total.

The first track in the album is the peppy ‘Tu Meri’. The song kick starts with the verse which is serene, but the chorus that follows spoils the composure and gives a feeling that the song has been forced to from being a soothing romantic number to a dance mix. Sung by Vishal Dadlani, the outro of the song is somewhat unreal.

The second song ‘Meherbaan’ of the movie is far better than the first one. The song is an out-and-out Vishal Shekhar composition. The best part about this one is the guitar work and the slow bass beats.

The third song is named as ‘Uff’ has some decent music and an overall composition. The lyrics however, in this one, are worth hearing. It can be heard again and again.

The fourth song of the movie is the title track ‘Bang Bang’. The song starts off with slow piano and a disco feel to it. It later has got some foot-tapping beats. As powerful and energetic as the music goes, one cannot deny the fact that the words appear forced into the song.

The last track, a reprise of song ‘Meherbaan’ is an acoustic version. The vocals in this version are much better than the original. Acoustics by Sanjoy Das (Bapi) and Keba Jeremiah are top-notch. This one has the best musical arrangement of all.

In all, Vishal-Shekhar try their best to come up with a unique album, but all they come up with is their signature style in most of the songs. However, a few number are sure worth a listen.
