The writing’s pretty much on the wall! ‘Bullett Raja’, the Saif Ali Khan-Sonakshi Sinha starrer directed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, has failed miserably at the box-office. Saif Ali Khan would have nurtured hopes that post ‘Omkara’ (2006) in which his ‘desi’ avatar was greatly appreciated, his rustic avatar in ‘Bullett Raja’ too, will rake in moolah at the box-office but that didn’t happen. The film could add less then Rs. 9 Crores (domestic theatrical revenue) to its kitty during its weekdays (Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday), taking its seven-day tally to approx Rs. 31. 90 Crores (gross domestic revenue), which was certainly not upto the mark. While Saif Ali Khan came up with a competent performance, he was severely let down by a mundane script which offered very little novelty in terms of content. Sadly, novelty has been director Tigmanshu Dhulia’s trademark in his career so far, so its absence in this film was extremely disappointing. Even Sonakshi Sinha could not break her flop-spree with this one and more than anyone else, she would keenly look forward to the box-office performance of ‘R…Rajkumar’.
While one ‘masala’ fare (‘Bullet Raja’) is on its way out, the other one (‘R…Rajkumar’) hits theaters this week. The ‘paisa vasool’ build-up of the latter definitely seems to be better than ‘Bullett Raja’!
