It is quite heartbreaking to see that a film with an interesting story, power packed performances and unpredictable twists failed to draw audience to the theatres. D-Day has become a part of those failed films, where the reason behind its failure still remains a mystery. The film had received good reviews and has one of Bollywood’s favourite themes- underworld and patriotism, it was meant to have a sure shot at success. But D-Day opened with only 2.8crore on Friday to everyone’s surprise. The Box Office Gurus were still hopeful along with the producers that the film will pick up in the remaining two days of the weekend and recover from Friday’s blow. There is nothing left to hope or say after Saturday and Sunday box office report. It’s sad to see amazing actors like Irfaan Khan, Rishi Kapoor and Huma Qureshi go unappreciated by the audience. It truly is unpredictable how will the audience react to a film.
On Saturday and Sunday D-Day’s collection at the domestic box office went a little higher, but nothing substantial. Saturday it earned 4.20crore followed by 4.90crore on Sunday. There is no chance of it recovering in the weekdays. Week one’s over all domestic box office collection will be around 18crore, which is not much, and lead on to make around 18-19crore as its life time income. Its official, D-Day is doomed.
Following are D-Day’s 1st weekend box office collections:
|Total Domestic Collections||11.95crore|
