Hollywood flick, Furious 7, is setting the cash registers jingling at Indian box office. The action thriller has created history of sorts by making a business of over Rs. 60 crore in its first five days. It has opened to huge numbers, and cocked in Rs. 48 crore during its opening weekend. Furious 7 made Rs. 7.55 crore on its first Monday and Rs. 7.25 crore on its first Tuesday. Collectively, the film now stands with a grand total of Rs. 62.80 crore at Box Office India.
Clearly, the fourteen-year-old Fast and Furious franchise gets bigger and stronger with the release of Furious 7. The film has become the highest opening weekend earner in the entire action series yet! It has also ranked ninth among the top ten openings in history.
With Furious 7 playing in cinema halls, the business of filmmaker Dibakar Banerjee’s Detective Byomkesh Bakshy! is getting affected a lot. The suspense thriller, which was expected to open to humongous numbers and earn about Rs. 18-20 crore during its first weekend, could only make Rs. 14.06 crore in the first three days.
Furious 7 is also known as Furious Seven and Fast & Furious 7. Directed by James Wan, the action flick stars Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Dwayne Johnson, Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris Bridges, Kurt Russell and Jason Statham in key roles. The film was released in 3D internationally, a first for the series.
