After a weak start on its first day Madras Café got a boost on Saturday. After getting praised by reviewers, publicity by the controversy and good word of mouth, Madras Café is attracting viewers to the theatres. After so many speculations and predictions of low business at box office, Madras Café collected 6.55 Crores(Approx) at the Box Office India.
Madras Café’s only competition Chennai Express belongs to different category and was mostly occupied by single screen theatres Movies like Madras Café has always been the first choice of multiplexes audience.
Madras Café is based on Sri Lanka’s civil war with LTTE and Indian Prime Minister Mr Rajeev Gandhi’s assassination. Movie has generated lots of publicity because of its negativity about LTTE chief and him being shown as a terrorist. Lots of Tamil organization protested against its release. Only after getting an approval from Supreme Court, distributors were able to release the movie in southern part of India.
Movie pundits are predicting Madras Café’s failure as its being an-out-of-league movie. But we as Indians have come so far to accept such serious and informative drama, it wont be a surprise if movie picksup in coming days and makes some profit out it.
