Ramaiya Vastavaiya surprisingly elbowed out its competition D-Day right from the very first day of its release. The film actually gained from its single screen theatre screenings as the small town audience loved the story. But Ramaiya Vastavaiya released with a big budget if 38crore. So the average yet steady performance at the domestic box office did not do any good to the producers’ pockets. The limited presence of the film in multiplexes and Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’s good run took another dent in its box office performance.
Despite the average performance by the leads, the film did do better than expected. Gaining from its single screen shows, Ramaiya Vastavaiya earned 3crore on Wednesday followed by 2.5crore on Thursday at the domestic box office, which took its nett. domestic box office collection to 27.3crore. This figure is good for a film with a new comer and not an established actress namely Girish Kumar and Shruti Hassan respectively. But considering its high budget, the film has failed at the box office.
Ramaiya Vastavaiya will finish with a lifetime collection of 32-34crore, which is less than the invested money. Seems like daddy’s idea of investing money on sonny Girish backfired.
Following are Ramaiya Vastavaiya’s 1st week box office collections:
|Total Domestic Collections||27.30crore|
