The Shaukeens remained average on its first Tuesday. It collected nearly Rs 2.25 crore on its fifth day. The film now stands with a total collection of around Rs 23 crore at the Box Office India.
The film had highly disappointing remarks in majority of the areas. It has been performing decent enough only at the multiplexes in urban centres. One of the main obstacles for the film has been the Hollywood release Interstellar which has taken over the multiplex audience in metros.
The Shaukeens is the remake of Basu Chatterjee’s 1982 hit of the same name. The original film had three old men in their 50s – Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and AK Hangal – as the centre of the plot. The trio tried to woo a young girl, played by lovely actress, Rati Agnihotri. The remake will have Piyush Mishra, Annu Kapoor and Anupam Kher reprise the parts played by the old men. Akshay Kumar, in an extended special appearance, will be essaying the role of Mithun Chakraborty from the original flick. The Shaukeens releases on 7th November 2014.
