Abhishek Sharma’s The Shaukeens failed miserably at the box-office. The film further dropped in its second week. It collected nearly Rs 30 lacs on its second Thursday at Box Office India. Cumulatively, now the film stands with a total collection of Rs 32.36 crores at the domestic box-office.
The film witnessed a below average second week. The Shaukeens is soon expected to wash out of the cinema halls, as the new release Happy Ending hits the theatres. The film pulled off a dull business in two weeks.
The comedy drama, which stars Akshay Kumar, is not performing upto the mark. The film had got highly disappointing remarks in majority of the areas. It has been performing decent enough only at the multiplexes in urban centres.
The Shaukeens is the remake of Basu Chatterjee’s 1982 hit of the same name. The original film had three old men in their 50s – Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt and AK Hangal – as the centre of the plot.
The remake of the film is directed by Abhishek Sharma, and it stars Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher, Piyush Mishra, Annu Kapoor and Lisa Haydon in the lead roles.
