‘Oblivion’ star Olga Kurylenko has said she is a huge fan of the way sci-fi constantly progresses the more science discovers with each generation
Olga Kurylenko loves the constant progression of sci-fi films. The ‘Oblivion’ star is a huge fan of futuristic epics, and admitted she enjoys seeing how the ideas featured in science fiction capture a moment in time and develop the more science itself learns more about the world.
She said: “What I love about sci-fi is that every generation’s films are based on what we know at that point in time.
“We make movies about the future but it’s always based on what we have. Then as science grows and we discover new things, so do our ideas. You know?”
The 33-year-old actress is engrossed by ideas of science and the future, and mentioned in particular the idea of “brain” computer chips inspired by ‘The Matrix’.
She told the Daily Telegraph newspaper: “Eventually there are going to be chips in brains. Imagine if you could just buy knowledge and download it into your head instead of having to learn it. Like in ‘The Matrix’. Imagine all the years saved!”
It was recently revealed the 33-year-old actress almost killed her ‘Oblivion’ co-star Tom Cruise while performing one of the film’s stunts on a motorbike
Tom said: “We were riding over rough terrain in Iceland and I said to her ‘All you have to do is really hold on to me.’ She had to hold on tight as every bump we hit I had to accelerate. But every time we hit a bump, her hands left my sides and she tried to grab the handlebars.
“I’ve never experienced anything like that in my life, I was so shocked, I almost killed us and I kept saying to Olga, ‘Listen, we are moving at 50 miles an hour, please please let go’. So I was driving and we’d hit a little bump and I’d be slapping her hand and I was thinking I hope the camera doesn’t see me slapping her hand.”
