Bollywood has come up with a very strong female protagonist who worked wonders in the Box Office. Films like Mary Kom, Queen, Kahaani, NH10, Mardaani, Highway, Raazi and many more have shown the industry a new outlook for the Bollywood industry.

The Big Announcement

Parineeti Chopra this time will appear in a very strong female protagonist role. On Wednesday, the makers of the film have announced to make an official Hindi remake of a Hollywood thriller “The Girl On The Train”. The film has not been given any title yet but it is clear that the film will be directed by Ribhu Dasgupta. The movie will be based on Paula Hawkin’s 2015 bestseller.

The Role of Parineeti Chopra

Parineeti Chopra will be playing the role of an alcoholic divorcee. She will be seen involved in a missing person’s investigation from where the story will start building. Emily Blunt played this role in the original movie and she got critical acclaim for her performance.

Parineeti told the viewers in a statement that she will be seeing in a totally different avatar. She also mentions that she wants to do roles which haven’t been done before and which requires a lot of prep and homework. She further let us know the reason for choosing this character is she hasn’t explored on- screen who is an alcoholic and a victim of abuse and she is looking forward to exploring the character more.

Ribhu Dasgupta on the Story and Parineeti

Reliance Entertainment is the producer of the film. The director says that “The Girl on the Train” is the best psychological thrillers. He further says that the story portrays a very heartwarming story about a female protagonist who will be seen discovering life in a new perspective. The director gives an outlook of the character by saying it is dark, gritty, edgy and extremely emotional and he feels more than happy to work with Parineeti for she is a sincere actor and a powerful performer. The filmmaker mentioned that he will show the story from an Indian perspective. Amblin will remain as a partner in this film. Initially, the Hollywood film was backed by Steven Spielberg’s DreamWorks Pictures and Spielberg stands to be the co-founder of the Amblin entertainment.

The film is set in the UK and around July, the film is expected to hit the floors.  It is clear that the filmmakers are looking for a 2020 release.
