Last seen in the 2013 flick, Bombay Talkies, Rani’s upcoming project, Mardaani, has been directed by Pradeep Sarkar, and produced by husband Aditya Chopra. Mukerji plays the lead role in the crime drama, also starring Jisshu Sengupta and Tahir Bhasin. Jisshu has been cast opposite Rani, essaying the role of Mukerji’s husband. Tahir is the film’s villain, pitted against Rani’s bold character.
Mardaani is the story of a female crime branch officer, who finds herself exposing secrets of human trafficking by the Indian mafia as she takes up the case of a kidnapped teenage girl.
The film’s trailer, launched last month, received an amazing response by the ardent movie buffs. Mardaani is slated to release on 22th August this year.
