Khiladi 786 has an interesting plot that revolves around the hero-Bahattar Singh who is a cop and falls in love with a Don’s sister Indu, played by Asin. It is quite interesting to see Himesh Reshammiya playing the character of Mansukh who hatches up a ploy to prove his worth to his father Champak Lal played by Paresh Rawal. The father thinks that his son is worthless and this fact prods Mansukh to do something challenging. The challenge lies in getting Indu married to a police officer who lives in Punjab and is known by another peculiar name- khiladi 786.

The other characters are played effortlessly by Mithun Chakraborty (Tatya Tukaram Tendulkar), Raj Babbar who plays Sattar Singh and Claudia Ciesla, the sexy damsel who has done an item song in the movie. Other actors like Mukesh Rishi, Bharti Singh and Rajesh Khattar have also played their part.

While, before Asin was signed to play the lead role, it was Ileana D’Cruz who was the first preference for the role of Indu. Even a one film wonder-Nargis Fakhri was considered for the role. But, because of her Caucasian looks and foreign upbringing that didn’t gel with that of Mithun Chakraborty’s look, she had to be ruled out. Poor gal! Her loss is definitely going to be Asin’s gain since the movie is generating quite an interest among folks as all are waiting to see Akshay returning to the famous Khiladi franchisee after almost 12 years. Wow… that’s a long wait!

Amitabh Bachchan was initially considered for the role of Tatya, however, on Akshay’s insistence, the role went to Mithun Da. It is rumored that Akshay shares a close bond with Mithun Da and got him onboard. Between him and Nargis, the former was chosen and the rest is history!

Khiladi 786 has been directed by Ashish R Mohan and has been jointly produced by Eros International, Hari Om Entertainment and HR Musik Limited. Most fans of the ‘Khiladi Kumar’ as Akshay is fondly referred to, saw the first trailer that premiered on YouTube on 4th October 2012. Viewers have seen the trailer so many times that it has successfully gathered a cool 1.5 million in just five days duration. One can wonder how much money it will rake in once it releases on 7th December 2012.

Hailed to be a strict competitor to Dabangg 2, Khiladi 786 was earlier planned to be released on 12th November, but due to some problems, it had to be shelved till December. Fans across India are waiting to see Akshay portraying himself as a hard cop after they last saw him in his true action hero avatar in Khiladi 420.

The film is an action comedy that promises to offer some great visual delights and foot tapping numbers scored by Himesh himself. ‘Balma’ – the item song in the movie is already garnering much attention. The song is a tribute to the late Pancham Da (RD Burman). Many would remember the altercation between Asha Bhonsale and Himesh after the latter tried to put himself on a higher pedestal than the maestro Burman.

The trailer appeared on TV on 12th November, and has since been a chart topper. The studio where the film has been shot is Kamalistan and the entire filming started on 2nd June 2012. The flick is going to be a hit since Akshay has done some dangerous stunts all by himself. The scariest part about doing all the stunts was the use of no cables or body doubles. There is one scene where the hero is shown jumping from the balcony of a house. And hold your breath…Akshay made a jump almost from 45 feet above ground. No wonder why people call him a daredevil Khiladi!

Many accolades have been showered on Jal Singh Nijjar who has directed the action sequences with perfection.
